SUBJECT: "Immigration Stories" Event
An event titled "Immigration Stories" will run from 6-8 p.m. April 19 at the Hmong Mutual Assistance Association in Eau Claire.
The event, organized by the UW-Eau Claire Center for Service-Learning and the Hmong Mutual Assistance Association, will be held in conjunction with National Youth Services Day.
The "Immigration Stories" event will include children and families involved in the Building Bridges program, which helps immigrant children successfully negotiate the challenges they face when moving to a new culture, including becoming literate in a new language. Children involved in the program came to the United States from Thailand in the past two years.
The April 19 event is funded by Verizon Communications and First Book.
