EAU CLAIRE — Montana singer-songwriter David Boone will present three free concerts at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire April 27-29. His shows will begin at 8 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday in The Cabin of Davies Center.

For over six years, Boone has been entertaining in the cafes, coffeehouses and bars of the hip college town of Missoula and the surrounding Northwest region. With a solid foot in the folk tradition of storytelling, Boone effortlessly straddles the fence between pop, rock and blues without compromising originality or authenticity. His melodic phrasing, delivered with an easy voice, begs listeners to follow along on a journey of personal highs and lows. Seeing Boone live is like stepping right into his personal diary where he openly explores doubts, beliefs, spirituality and romance, giving each the weight it deserves.

One of the highlights of Boone's songwriting is how deftly he mimics the emotion of the lyrics with his vocals. Within one song, he easily goes from the soft, pure smoothness of a ballad to the sometimes strained wailing of heightened angst. Touring nationally with Seattle percussionist James Wasem, Boone creates a sound of intricate, yet balanced rhythm and melody — striking a chord with the roots of folk rock. Sometimes humorous, sometimes philosophical, Boone is a true voice for the modern wandering and wondering soul.

People of all ages are welcome to The Cabin performances. Soda, tea, coffee and coffee-related beverages, and domestic and imported beer will be sold. Proof of age is required for alcohol purchases.

The Cabin program is sponsored by the University Activities Commission of the UW-Eau Claire Student Senate.
