Still Time to Register for UW-Eau Claire's Summer Session

RELEASED: April 11, 2006

EAU CLAIRE — There is still time to register for the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Summer Session 2006. Community members are invited to make their summer an educational one by exploring the variety of classes offered during the first three-week Summer Session, May 22-June 9, and the eight-week session, which runs June 12-Aug. 4.

This year, 37 online courses are designed to be appealing both to working adults who are trying to fit classes into already busy schedules and to traditional-age students who want to earn credits while traveling or working at home during the summer. For more information about these online courses, check the Web at www.uwec.edu/summer.

Summer Session 2006 also offers approximately 200 on-campus courses that range from the study of the culture of third wave feminism or Mass Media Ethics to calculus or psychopharmacology. This summer, area educators can take advantage of more than 33 courses specifically aimed at their needs. Students also may earn credits at off-campus locations, studying, for example, tropical environments in Costa Rica; biology at the Pigeon Lake Field Station in Chequamegon National Forest in Northern Wisconsin; geologic features and processes in the Rocky Mountains; or marine biology and geology at the Gulf Coast Research Lab in Ocean Springs, Miss.

Summer Session participants also may take advantage of the numerous recreational opportunities in the area by renting some of the wide variety of outdoor equipment available at UW-Eau Claire's Hilltop Center, or participating in some of the free-time recreation and fitness center activities offered throughout the summer.

For descriptions, times and dates for all Summer Session classes, including online courses, visit UW-Eau Claire's Web site or call Registration and Scheduling at (715) 836-2425.
