Student Researchers Looking for Vegetarians
to Participate in Health Study

RELEASED: April 7, 2006

EAU CLAIRE — Three University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire students are conducting a study on the health effects of being a vegetarian.

Junior Erica Olson, Deer Park, and seniors Zach Jeffrey, East Troy, and Lance Valiquette are looking for volunteers to participate in their study to test the heart rates and blood pressures of vegetarians versus non-vegetarians.

The subjects must be vegetarians between the ages of 30 and 60 years old and be non-smokers. The study is supervised by Lance Dalleck, assistant professor of kinesiology.

Volunteers interested in participating in the study should contact the students to set up a one-time commitment of 30 minutes for testing in the Exercise Physiology Lab in McPhee Physical Education Center, Room 123.

The students request that volunteers contact them no later than Monday, April 24.

If interested, contact Olson at olsone@uwec.edu, Valiquette at valiqulw@uwec.edu, or Jeffrey at jeffreza@uwec.edu. For questions or concerns about the study, contact Dalleck at (715) 836-3774 or dalleclc@uwec.edu.
