EAU CLAIRE — Diane Doudna has been named the director of annual giving and major gifts officer for the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Foundation.

Doudna, a 1986 graduate of Lawrence University, began her new position April 3. She fills the position left by Heidi Fisher, who left to accept a position as executive director of the Literacy Volunteers-Chippewa Valley.

"We are very pleased to welcome Diane to our staff," said Kimera Way, UW-Eau Claire executive director of development. "She has the perfect combination of fundraising experience and background working in the UW system. She will be an excellent addition to our team."

As director of annual giving and major gifts officer, Doudna will develop short- and long-term plans to increase annual private support from alumni and friends of UW-Eau Claire. Some of her responsibilities will include overseeing direct mail solicitations, targeted appeals, the Foundation's telemarketing operation, the annual campus campaign and donor stewardship programs.

Doudna also will be a member of the professional staff of Fulfilling the Promise of Excellence, UW-Eau Claire's first comprehensive fundraising campaign to secure $50 million in private support for the university's people and programs. She will be accountable for the success of the annual giving component of the campaign.

Doudna who previously worked for six years in management in the department of music at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, said she is excited to be returning to a university environment.

"I enjoy the interaction of faculty, staff and students on campus so I'm happy to be part of this great university," Doudna said. "It's a very appealing opportunity to be joining the successful development team at UW-Eau Claire and to have the chance to work to enhance the support of this excellent university."

Doudna also worked for Luther Midelfort-Mayo Health System, where she was a development specialist. Additionally she was a newsletter editor with Impact Publications and has several years of nonprofit experience in job development and case management.

This spring Doudna will complete the Leadership Eau Claire, 2006 class.
