Musical Events for the Week of April 10

RELEASED: April 4, 2006

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire music and theatre arts department will present the following musical performances the week beginning Monday, April 10. All events are free and open to the public.

Wednesday, April 12:

  • Juniors Daniel Trelfa, Sturtevant, and Ryan Summers, Waukesha, will present a vocal recital at 5 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. The duo will open with "An den Abendstern" by Schumann. Trelfa will follow with "Ave Maria" by Juan Canto Francés and "Amor y Olvido" by Fermin Maria Álvarez. Summers will take the stage next, performing a set of works including Miguel Sandoval's "Serenata Gitana" and Georges Bizet's "Guitare." Other composers whose work will be featured in the concert include Ralph Vaughan Williams, Michael Head and Franz Schubert. Trelfa and Summers will close the performance together with "Agony," from Sondheim's "Into the Woods."
  • Senior Colin Gilliland, Fond du Lac, will hold a trombone recital at 7:30 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall. He will open with Eugène Bozza's "Ballade," followed by "Vocalise" by Rachmaninoff. Also featured will be "Pilgrim's Hymn" by Stephen Paulus and Bernstein's "Elegy for Mippy II." Gilliland also will perform one of his own compositions, "Amable y Problematica," and will conclude the concert with "Mo' Better Blues" by Bill Lee.
