48th Annual Career Conference to be Held Oct. 6
in Zorn Arena

RELEASED: Sept. 22, 2005

Employer talking with studentEAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's 48th annual Career Conference will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, in Zorn Arena.

The conference is a great opportunity for students and faculty members to meet with more than 100 prospective employers, graduate schools and state and federal agencies.

Students and faculty members also will have a chance to meet these employers in a more casual setting at a preconference reception sponsored by the Student Accounting Society. The reception will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, at the Holiday Inn. Dress is business formal.

"The Career Conference is a great market for students searching for a job or internship," said Erin Gerrits, a member of the Beta Upsilon Sigma's conference organizing committee. "The conference is an awesome opportunity to meet with multiple companies at the same time in the same place."

Most of the companies represented are from Minnesota and Wisconsin, but there will be others from surrounding regions. Employers will not only be looking for potential employees, but also will be advising students on what types of skills, abilities and experience they look for and value in their employees.

First- and second-year students are also encouraged to check out the conference and ask employers questions; the experience can help students increase their confidence when they're looking for jobs as juniors and seniors.

Beta Upsilon Sigma and Career Services are sponsoring the Career Conference. For more information, e-mail careerconference@uwec.edu.
