A Seminar on Strategies to Improve Healthcare in the Chippewa Valley Set for Sept. 30

RELEASED: Sept. 9, 2005

EAU CLAIRE — A seminar titled "Sharing Strategies to Improve Healthcare in the Chippewa Valley" is slated for 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Sept. 30 at the Best Western Trail Lodge in Eau Claire.

Event sponsors include the Center for Health and Aging Services Excellence at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, the Center for Performance Excellence at the Chippewa Valley Technical College, the Northwest Wisconsin Manufacturing Outreach Center at UW-Stout, and UW-Eau Claire's Continuing Education/UW-Extension.

The collaborative event will highlight the best performance practices of health care organizations across a spectrum of settings in the Chippewa Valley. Organizers hope the event will facilitate a climate of sharing, learning and encouraging each other to continue to strive for excellence.

Dr. Randall Linton, president/CEO of Luther Midelfort in Eau Claire, will lead a discussion titled "The Baldridge National Quality Program — What Has It Meant for Us?." Other speakers and discussion topics include Marge McFarlane and Mark Mason of Sacred Heart Hospital, "The Nuts and Bolts of Focusing on Six Sigma Projects"; Jim Deignan, CEO of Dove Healthcare, "Lessons Learned when Shifting Your Organizational Orientation to a Customer-Centered Focus"; and Jeanie Lubinsky, CFO of Red Cedar Medical Center, "A Lean Plan for Success In Healthcare." A panel response will follow the presentation.

John Gustafson from Wisconsin Forward Award will lead a lunch discussion.
