University Symphony Orchestra to Perform Fall Concert Nov. 13

EAU CLAIRE — The University Symphony Orchestra of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire will give a fall concert at 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 13, in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.

The orchestra will open with Richard Wagner's "Rienzi Overture." The piece was written as the overture to Wagner's opera "Rienzi," which was based on a novel by Edward Bulwer-Lytton. The performance will continue with "Hungarian Rhapsody No.2" by Franz Liszt, followed by Symphony No. 4 by Brahms.

The University Symphony Orchestra is an auditioned ensemble comprised of 75 UW-Eau Claire students. The group is under the direction of Nobuyoshi Yasuda, associate professor of music.

Tickets, available at the University Service Center, (715) 836-3727 or (800) 949-UWEC, are $5 for the general public; $4 for those 62 and older, children 17 and younger and faculty and staff with a university ID; and $1.50 for students with a university ID. Seating is reserved. Advance ticket purchase is recommended.
