RELEASED: Oct. 31, 2005

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Concert Choir will present a concert at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 13, in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.

The ensemble, conducted by Gary Schwartzhoff, professor of music, will begin the concert with "Haec Dies" by Vijay Singh, followed by Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina's "Tu es Petrus." The ensemble also will feature "A Boy and a Girl," a poem by Octavio Paz, set to music by Eric Whitacre. Richard Fletcher, professor of music, will join the group on clarinet in René Clausen's setting of the traditional American folk song "Black is the Color of My True Love's Hair."

The second half of the concert will open with a performance by Impromptu, a mixed a cappella group auditioned out of the choir. They will perform three popular pieces arranged for a cappella music, including "No Surprises" by Radiohead.

Following Impromptu's performance, the Concert Choir will return to the stage to perform their final selections. "The Three Kings" by Healey Willan and Moses Hogan's "My Soul's Been Anchored in the Lord" will be included among the pieces in the last set.
