UW-Eau Claire Forensics Takes Second at Mid-American Forensics Tournament

RELEASED: Oct. 26, 2005

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire forensics team took second place to Kansas State University in the third Mid-American Forensics Tournament on Saturday, Oct. 22.

Four women from the UW-Eau Claire forensics team traveled to MAFL #3, which was held at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa.

Following are the individual results from Saturday's MAFL #3 tournament:

Junior Betsy Schroeder, Le Center, Minn., placed first in persuasive speaking, which qualified that event for the American Forensics Association National Tournament. She also placed first in after-dinner speaking, first in informative speaking, qualifying the event for AFA, and fourth in program oral interpretation.

Sophomore Hilary Rasmussen, Eau Claire, took first in poetry, which qualified the event for AFA.

Senior Abby Czeskleba, Middleton, placed second in program oral interpretation, third in after-dinner speaking and fourth in communication analysis, qualifying that event for the National Forensics Association National Tournament.

Freshman Julie Germain, New Richmond, placed third in informative speaking, qualifying for NFA.
