Society of Politics to Present 'Know Your Rights' Panel Discussion

RELEASED: Oct. 20, 2005

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Society of Politics will present its first ever "Know Your Rights" panel presentation at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, in the Eagle Room of Davies Center.

Panelists will include David Sprick, director of University Police; Dr. James Tubbs, associate professor of political science; and state public defenders Mary Liedtke and Laurie Osberg.

By featuring panelists from different fields, the Society of Politics hopes to inform students about their rights and make them more aware of what they can and can't do when dealing with the law.

The presentation will feature a question and answer format so those attending will be able to learn about issues of most interest to them. Discussion is anticipated to focus on issues such as search and seizure, drug possession, underage drinking and housing issues as well as constitutional law.
