RELEASED: Oct. 17, 2005

Eight University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire students and alumni were killed or injured in the crash of a bus transporting the Chippewa Falls High School marching band early Sunday morning as the band was returning home following a competition in Whitewater. Among those killed in the accident were UW-Eau Claire music education student Branden Atherton, a senior from Waukesha, and alumnus Douglas Greenhalgh, director of the Chippewa Falls High School marching band.
