Media Memo: University/City Homecoming News Conference

RELEASED: Oct. 5, 2005

University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire student leadership, administration and city of Eau Claire representatives will hold a joint news conference to announce cooperative efforts to make Homecoming 2005 “safe and sane.”

Homecoming Week, one of UW-Eau Claire's largest annual events, will be held Oct. 9-16. It will feature numerous activities, a parade and football game against UW-Stout.

Topics of discussion during the news conference will include student initiatives supporting responsible house parties; a resolution requesting Water Street taverns open later Homecoming Saturday; ordinance enforcement by police; and efforts to encourage responsible behavior by students, alumni, visitors and community members during Homecoming Week festivities.

The news conference will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, in the Presidents Room of Davies Center at UW-Eau Claire.
