Story Idea
Lt. Gov. Barbara Lawton will discuss her Wisconsin Women Equal Prosperity Initiative from noon-1 p.m. Oct. 3 in the Council Fire Room of Davies Center.
Later in the day, from 3-4 p.m. in Davies Theatre, Lawton will discuss Gov. Doyle's environmental initiatives.

Four UW-Eau Claire alumni with photography careers will be featured in the exhibit "Common Ground: The Photography of Tony Duran, Liz Flores, David Joles and John Noltner." It will run Oct. 6-27 in the Foster Gallery of the Haas Fine Arts Center. An opening reception is set for 7:30-9 p.m. Oct. 6
in the gallery. The photographers will attend the reception and will meet with students. Noltner, Joles and Flores will give a gallery talk at 10 am. Oct. 7. Duran, a 1988 grad and a celebrity photographer, is based in L.A. He's captured famous faces such as Jennifer Lopez and Angelina Jolie. Flores, a 1995 grad, and Joles, a 1987 grad, (a married couple) are photojournalists. Both were photographers at the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and recently joined the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Flores was the WNPA's Wisconsin Photographer of the year in 2003. Her work has taken her to Cuba, Nicaragua and Mexico. Joles won Wisconsin Photographer of the Year in 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2004. He placed second in the Pictures of the Year International competition. Noltner, a 1990 grad, is a freelance photographer based in Minneapolis. He specializes in images of people for editorial, corporate and advertising clients. His work has taken him from boardrooms to mountain villages in Thailand. His photos have been published in magazines such as Forbes, Midwest Living and Smithsonian. His clients have included Carleton College, Ordway Music Theatre and Sun Country Airlines. Foster Gallery hours are 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, 6-8 p.m. Thursday and 1-4:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Story Idea
An International Roundtable titled "Women's Rights in Latin America — Great Strides or Small Steps?" will run from 4-5 p.m. Oct. 4 in the Presidents Room of Davies Center.
International students from Ecuador, Bolivia and Mexico will discuss whether they believe progress is being made in Latin America regarding women's rights.

The first Michael Noll Memorial Fun Run will begin at 10 am. Oct. 8 near the Haas Fine Arts Center.
The race is part of UW-Eau Claire's National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week (Oct. 2-8). Michael Noll was a senior biology major from Rochester, Minn., in 2002 when he died after celebrating his birthday. The race is sponsored in part by Jeff and Carol Noll, in memory of their son. Jeff Noll and several of Michael's friends will participate in the race. Money raised will go to the Center for Alcohol Studies and Education, whose mission is to reduce high-risk drinking.
