Symphonic Choir and University Orchestra to Perform Handel's "The Messiah" Dec. 4

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Symphonic Choir and University Symphony Orchestra will present a performance of Handel's "The Messiah" at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.

Solos by student performers will be featured throughout the concert.

The Symphonic Choir, directed by Dr. Alan Rieck, specializes in the study and performance of music composed for chorus and orchestra. The group is comprised of students from many scholastic disciplines within the University as well as interested singers from the communities of Eau Claire and the greater Chippewa Valley. Two major concerts are presented each year with the University Symphony Orchestra.

The University Symphony Orchestra, directed by Nobuyoshi Yasuda, is a sixty-member student ensemble performing the symphonic repertoire of the eighteenth, nineteenth, and twentieth centuries.

Tickets, available at the University Service Center, (715) 836-3727 or (800) 949-UWEC, are $5 for the general public; $4 for those 62 and older, children 17 and younger and faculty and staff with a university ID; and $1.50 for students with a university ID.
