UW-Eau Claire's Jazz III to Perform Nov. 22

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin Jazz Ensemble III will present their fall concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22, in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.

Jazz III, under the direction of Jeffery Crowell, assistant professor of music, will present a tribute to Tito Puente in the first half of their concert. In his life time, Tito Puente was known as the "sultan of salsa" and named the King of Latin Music. He was a four-time Grammy winner and has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The selection of Puente's works will include "Para Los Rumberos," "Ran Kan Kan," "Oye Como Va" and "Machito Forever."

The second half of the concert will open with "Willis" by Bob Florence. Christine Jensen's "Vernal Fields" also will be featured. The final selection will be "Joyous Reunion" by Ernie Watts.

Tickets, available at the University Service Center, (715) 836-3727 or (800) 949-UWEC, are $4 for the general public; $3 for those 62 and older, children 17 and younger and faculty and staff with a university ID; and free for students with a university ID.
