UW-Eau Claire Forensic Team Hosts MAFL Tournament, Takes Second

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire forensics team placed second at their first home tournament of the year. The Mid American Forensics League Tournament was held on the UW-Eau Claire campus on Saturday, Nov. 12.

On Sunday, Nov. 13, the UW-Eau Claire forensics team traveled to Madison for the UW-Madison Tournament, where they placed fourth.

Following are the individual results from Saturday's MAFL #4:

Junior Amy Oldakowski, Sobieski, took first in communication analysis and fourth in persuasive speaking, qualifying that event for National Forensics Association National Tournament.

Junior Christine Zani, Hurley, and sophomore Hilary Rasmussen, Eau Claire, placed first in duo interpretation, qualifying that event for the American Forensics Association National Tournament. Zani also placed third in informative speaking, which qualified the event for NFA. Rasmussen placed fourth in prose.

Junior Besty Schroeder, Le Center, Minn., took second in after-dinner speaking, qualifying the event for AFA, fourth in program oral interpretation and fifth in extemporaneous speaking.

Senior Chris Conklin, Green Bay, placed second in dramatic interpretation and second in prose, qualifying that event for NFA.

Senior Abby Czeskleba, Middleton, took fifth in program oral interpretation, fifth in after-dinner speaking and sixth in communication analysis.

Senior Chris Kamrath, Chetek, placed fifth in informative speaking.

Freshman Crystal Navarrete, Fullerton, Calif., placed seventh in after-dinner speaking.

Following are the individual results from Sunday's UW-Madison Tournament:

Oldakowski placed first in the overall individual events by placing first in persuasive speaking, first in communication analysis, qualifying that event for AFA, and fourth in impromptu speaking.

Czeskleba took second in program oral interpretation, qualifying that event for AFA.

Kamrath placed seventh in informative speaking.
