Registration Continues for Winterim Session
at UW-Eau Claire

RELEASED: Nov. 11, 2005

students snowshoeing on Campus MallEAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Winterim 2006, a three-week session that will run Jan. 3-20, will offer more than 70 classroom courses and four Web-based courses.

Winterim, which has been a part of the academic calendar at UW-Eau Claire since 1996, originally offered only 13 courses.

"This Winterim session provides such a rich array of course offerings compared to where we started just 10 years ago," said Jan Morse, administrative officer for academic affairs. "I think with the number and variety of courses available, most students will find at least one course to help them earn credits in just three weeks — it's a great way to stay on track or get a step ahead on completing their degrees." Winterim also offers an opportunity for people not enrolled at the university to take a course.

The 2006 Winterim schedule includes several interesting courses, Morse said. For example, Dr. Geoffrey Peterson is offering a course called "Film and Politics" (Pols 336/545). During the course, Peterson will examine how film delivers both implicit and explicit political themes and messages. Also, Dr. David Jones will focus on rock 'n roll music in his "Major Themes in Literature" (Engl 392) course.

Information about these and other course offerings is on UW-Eau Claire's Registrar's Web site. Currently enrolled students and special students — including those not currently enrolled at UW-Eau Claire — can register up until the first day of class, but early registration is encouraged.
