Two UW-Eau Claire Forensics Team Members Receive Scholarships for Fall Semester

RELEASED: May 27, 2005

EAU CLAIRE — University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire students Rachel Mayasich, St. Cloud, Minn., and Amy Oldakowski, Sobieski, recently were awarded William S. Cody Hall Esq. Scholarships of $900 each for the fall 2005 semester.

The scholarship is awarded to juniors and seniors active in public speaking and oral persuasion who are planning to attend either graduate school in communication (public speaking emphasis only) or law school, or who are preparing for a career as a high school speech communication teacher or forensics coach. Specific grade point averages are required, depending on the students' program.

Mayasich is a senior majoring in political science, with a minor in communication. Oldakowski is a junior majoring in communication, with a minor in women's studies. Both students are active members of the UW-Eau Claire forensics team.
