UW-Eau Claire Alumni Association Honors Outstanding Students

RELEASED: May 17, 2005

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire Alumni Association honored 15 outstanding students and scholarship recipients at an award luncheon May 11 in Davies Center.

Sharon Fortune, a comprehensive elementary education major from Eau Claire, received the Nontraditional Student Service Outstanding Student Award.

Lee Yang, a December 2004 graduate from Menomonie, who majored in marketing, received the Office of Multicultural Affairs Outstanding Student Award.

Avisha Nair, a journalism major from India, received the Center for International Affairs Outstanding Student Award.

Chauncy Harris Jr., a history and geography major from Eau Claire, received the College of Arts and Sciences Outstanding Student Award.

Paul Treml, a comprehensive management and marketing major from Fond du Lac, received the College of Business Outstanding Student Award.

Sara Halada, a comprehensive communication disorders major from Sturgeon Bay, and Kara Rupnow, a comprehensive special education major from Ixonia, received College of Education and Human Sciences Outstanding Student Awards.

Jacquelyn Petroni, a comprehensive music therapy and biology major from Fish Creek, was the public health recipient of a College of Nursing and Health Sciences Outstanding Student Award. Amy Greene, a nursing major from Pittsville, was the nursing recipient of a College of Nursing and Health Sciences Outstanding Student Award.

Gail Hanson Brenner, Eau Claire, received the Graduate Studies Outstanding Student Award for the College of Nursing and Health Sciences.

Kim Schopen, Jefferson, received the Graduate Studies Outstanding Student Award for the College of Education and Human Services.

Nancy Flyen, Bloomer, received the Graduate Studies Outstanding Student Award for the College of Business.

Joseph Boone, Stone Lake, received the Graduate Studies Outstanding Student Award for the College of Arts and Sciences.

Two 2004 scholarship recipients also were honored during the luncheon.

Evan Perrault, a journalism and political science major from Colgate, received the Richard E. and Jane Hibbard Scholarship.

Siegfreid Spelter, a history and Spanish major from Madison, received the Leonard and Dorellen Haas Scholarship.
