UW-Eau Claire to Host Astronomy Day May 14

astronomy photoEAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire will host Astronomy Day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 14, in Phillips Science Hall.

The event will include displays, events and handouts, and the Mission Eau Claire simulated space shuttle, the Dream Odyssey, will be available for tours. Displays include astrophotography and telescopes. A solar telescope will be available to safely look at sunspots.

Short planetarium shows will be presented at 10:30 a.m. and every half hour beginning at noon and ending at 3 p.m. There is also an 11 a.m. children's show (ages 4 and up) for which $1 tickets are required.

All other events are free, open to the public and will take place on the first floor of Phillips Hall or outside the north doors.

The Chippewa Valley Astronomical Society and the L.E. Phillips Planetarium are sponsoring Astronomy Day.
