SUBJECT: Gov. Jim Doyle to Visit UW-Eau Claire
Gov. Jim Doyle will visit UW-Eau Claire Friday, March 18, to discuss details of his plans for the Wisconsin Institute for Discovery, part of the $750 million public-private initiative to help Wisconsin remain at the forefront of stem cell and biotechnology research.
While the Wisconsin Institute for Discovery will be located at UW-Madison, it will provide support and opportunities for faculty and students engaged in research at comprehensive universities like UW-Eau Claire.
In addition to Gov. Doyle, Dr. Donald Mash, executive senior vice president of the UW System, and Dr. Scott Hartsel, UW-Eau Claire chemistry professor, will discuss the benefits of the creation of the Wisconsin Institute for Discovery.
The Doyle visit is scheduled at 10:45 a.m. Friday, March 18, in the Materials Science Center in Room 174 of Phillips Hall on lower campus.
