Supervisory Management Courses Offered
by UW-Eau Claire in April

EAU CLAIRE — University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Continuing Education/UW-Extension will present several workshops from the Supervisory Management Certificate program in April. The workshops, designed for managers, supervisors and small business owners, may be taken individually or as part of the certificate program requirements. The Supervisory Management Certificate program is co-sponsored by the Small Business Development Center, UW-Eau Claire, UW-La Crosse and UW-Extension.

"Supervisory Management 1" will be held April 7-8 in Baldwin at the AmericInn. Topics include making a smooth transition from an operational to a decision-making role, selecting a leadership style, motivating employee performance, and discipline and work rules.

"Supervisory Management 2" will be held April 14-15 in Eau Claire at Sweetwaters Restaurant. Topics include establishing orientation policies and procedures, understanding communication behaviors, time management and delegating.

"Managing Projects and Teams" will be held April 20-21 in Eau Claire at Sweetwaters Restaurant. Topics include long-range planning techniques, how to run efficient team meetings, overview systems for organizing multiple projects, generating project buy-in, solving unexpected problems, and developing strategies for handling crisis situations.

"Maximizing Performance" will be held April 27-28 in Baldwin at the AmericInn. Topics include creating an environment for excellence, identifying what you are really rewarding, fine-tuning your coaching and goal-setting techniques, diagnosing performance problems, turning around undesirable behaviors and rewarding desirable behaviors.

"Negotiation Skills" will be held April 6-7 in Eau Claire at Sweetwaters Restaurant and April 12-13 at the Cleary Alumni and Friends Center on the UW-La Crosse campus. Topics include strategies, skills and motivations for negotiating win-win outcomes. Concepts are applied to everyday interactions and specialized contract or conflict situations

All workshops meet from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Individual course fees are $425 per person and include lunch, breaks, materials and instruction. Group fee is $375 per person for three to five people from the same firm attending the same session and registering at the same time. Series fee is $1,125 per individual registering for Supervisory Management 1, 2, and 3 at the same time.
