Recipients of 2005 Viennese Ball Scholarships Announced at UW-Eau Claire

EAU CLAIRE — Viennese Ball International Study Awards recognize outstanding academic achievement and service to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Following is a list of students who received these awards at UW-Eau Claire's 2005 Viennese Ball.

Sophomores Margot Pfefferle and Laura Titzkowski, both from Appleton, received the Wilhelm and Ingrid Brauner Award, given to selected exchange students from UW-Eau Claire to the University of Graz, Austria. This award is named for Wilhelm and Ingrid Brauner of the Austrian government, in recognition of their services and efforts in the successful development of the annual ball. Pfefferle is a German major and the daughter of Karen and James Pfefferle. Titzkowski is a German major, with an emphasis in German for business. She is the daughter of Carol and Thomas Titzkowski.

Junior Ashley Ritter, Wauwatosa, received the Heinz K. Seitinger Scholarship, given to a UW-Eau Claire student studying in Graz. This scholarship is named for former Austrian trade commissioner Heinz K. Seitinger, in recognition of his contributions to UW-Eau Claire's international programs. Ritter is majoring in German and Spanish education. She is the daughter of Debra and Conrad Ritter.

The AVL List Award is given to exchange students from the University of Graz to UW-Eau Claire. Scholarship monies are provided by AVL-List of Graz — Helmut List, president. A manufacturer of internal combustion engines and measurement technology, AVL-List is the UW-Eau Claire Foundation's first international corporate scholarship sponsor.

Two Austrian students, Elizabeth Uebleis and Johanna Ortner, were on a single-semester exchange in the fall semester. AVL-List Scholarship recipients from Austria who studied at UW-Eau Claire during the spring semester were junior Martina Ehgartner, an English and history major from Mariahof; senior Emanuel Enzenhofer, an English literature major from Alberndorf; and junior Elisabeth Prinz from Klogenfurt.

The following students received Viennese Ball Senior Music Scholarships, awarded for talent, academic achievement and contributions to the department of music and theatre arts. The Viennese Ball also supports an additional 25 endowed and division scholarships each year.

Senior Lindsey Andress, Suamico, is a music education major with choral emphasis. She is the daughter of Rochelle and Brad Andress.

Senior Kevin Bailey, Milwaukie, Ore., is a music/math major and the son of Mary Louise and Kenneth R. Bailey Jr.

Senior Sacia Jerome, Barron, is a music major with an emphasis in cello performance. She is the daughter of Shelley and Lawrence Jerome.

Senior Nick Munagian, Wisconsin Rapids, is a music major with an emphasis in viola performance. He is the son of Jan and George Munagian.

Senior Kara Sorensen, Duluth, Minn., is a music major with an emphasis in flute performance. She is the daughter of Diane and John Sorenson.

Senior James Yardley, Duluth, Minn., is a music major with an emphasis in applied trombone performance. He is the son of Janet and Ron Yardley.

Senior Christine Schweikert, Coon Rapids, Minn., received the Ada Bors Music Service Award, recognizing outstanding service to the department of music and theatre arts. The award is named for the originator and coordinator of the annual Viennese Ball through its silver anniversary year, in honor of her service to the community. Schweikert is majoring in music, with an emphasis in vocal performance, and German. She is the daughter of Maria and Timothy Schweikert.

Seniors Hannah Stander, St. Paul, Minn., and Claire Jadin, Shioctin, received W.R. Davies University Center Service Awards that recognize outstanding service to the Viennese Ball. Stander is a special education/learning disabilities major and the daughter of Theresa and Charles Stander. She is a member of the usher corps and of the Davies Center operations team. Jadin is a psychology major and the daughter of Mary and Tom Jadin. She is one of the student managers on duty in Davies Center.
