Rob ReidEAU CLAIRE — Are you looking for some good books for your children or grandchildren this summer? Rob Reid, a lecturer at the University of Eau Claire and a member of the American Library Association's Newbery Award Selection Committee, will share his picks for the best children's books of 2005 at the Alumni "Let's Do Lunch" speaker series from noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 29 at Sweetwaters Restaurant.

Reid will talk about the books of 2005 he favors during the noon-hour speaker's series.

"I look for books that will not only appeal to children and entertain them, but also to those books that challenge the kids; either by jump-starting their creativity and imagination, or by helping them learn more about themselves and/or others who are unlike them," said Reid.

Upcoming "Let's Do Lunch" speakers, dates and topics include: July 27, Dr. William Frankenberger, UW-Eau Claire professor of psychology, "Treating Children with Psychiatric Disorders: Is Medication Enough?"; Dr. Rose-Marie Avin, UW-Eau Claire professor of economics, Aug. 29 "Globalization and the Third World: A Force for Good or Exploitation?"; and Jeff Oliphant, assistant professor of kinesiology, Sept. 28, "Youth Sports Injuries: Can We Prevent Them?"
