UW-Eau Claire Continuing Education to Sponsor Programs for Nurses and Nurse Practitioners

EAU CLAIRE — University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Continuing Education will present two programs for health care professionals in August.

"Cruise through Wound Care" will be held Aug. 18. This program is for nurses and nurse practitioners whose patients may develop pressure ulcers. Topics to be discussed include prevention, treatment strategies, dressing/topical products, support surfaces, nutrition and advanced therapies.

"Pain Management: A Nursing Priority" will be held Aug. 19. The program will focus on pain management for adult and geriatric populations. Topics to be discussed include the basics of pain physiology and treatment modalities, in-depth medication management, and what to do with that pain score number.

The programs will be presented by Tara Beuscher, a clinical specialist in gerontology and adult nurse practitioner for the Marshfield Clinic in Minocqua. The programs will run from 8:30 a.m.-4:15 p.m. at the Plaza Inn and Suites in Eau Claire. Participants receive 7.5 nursing education contact hours for each program.

Tuition for each program is $159 per person, or $298 per person registering for both programs. Tuition includes instruction, materials, lunch, refreshments and nursing education contact hours.
