EAU CLAIRE — Dr. Jeffrey Lindauer, associate professor of kinesiology, will receive two awards from the Wisconsin Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance this fall. He was nominated for the awards by colleagues in WAHPERD.
Lindauer will receive the Citation Award in recognition of his significant contributions to the advancement of the profession through the fields of health, physical education, recreation, dance or related fields. Contributions may be in the form of legislative support, professional service, or specific participation in local, state or national program development.
The Citation Award recognizes Lindauer for serving the association as Northwest District coordinator from 2002-2005, and for advancing the field of physical education by designing and administering innovative physical education programs for children. He will serve as WAHPERD president-elect for 2005-06.
Lindauer also will receive the WAHPERD Teaching Honor Award, which recognizes outstanding teaching in the elementary, middle, secondary schools or the state universities. He is being recognized for conducting a quality physical education program, using various teaching methodologies, serving as a role model for the profession, participating in professional development and providing professional leadership through presentations, leadership or writing.
Lindauer, who formerly taught elementary physical education, joined the UW-Eau Claire faculty in 2002. He is the director of the physical education teacher education program, teaches physical education methods courses and supervises student teachers. He said he enjoys promoting physical activity for children and directs the UW-Eau Claire All-Sport Camp, held each summer during the last two weeks of July.
He has a bachelor's degree from Wartburg College, a master's degree from UW-La Crosse, and a Ph.D. in physical education from the University of New Mexico.
