UW-Eau Claire Student Awarded National Honor Society Scholarship

Alpha Lambda Delta mastheadEAU CLAIRE — University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire junior Cassandra Lawler, Mazomanie, has been awarded a $1,000 Jo Anne Trow Scholarship for the 2005-06 academic year from the Alpha Lambda Delta National Honor Society. Lawler is majoring in mathematics, with a minor in English.

Each year, Alpha Lambda Delta awards 35 Trow scholarships to outstanding students across the nation. Selection is based on academic records, participation in Alpha Lambda Delta activities, applicants' statements and campus and community activities. For the 2005 competition, the national committee reviewed more than 80 strong applicants submitted by more than 60 local chapters.

Alpha Lambda Delta is a national honor society that recognizes and encourages academic excellence among first year students. The society initiates more than 25,000 new members annually, recognizing students who have attained a 3.5 or higher GPA in their first year or term of studies. The Jo Anne Trow award was started in 1988 in honor of a past national president of Alpha Lambda Delta.
