UW-Eau Claire Winterim Sets Enrollment Record

RELEASED: Jan. 25, 2005

EAU CLAIRE — A record number of students were enrolled in the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's 2005 Winterim session, said Jan Morse, administrative officer for academic affairs.

The three-week session, which ran Jan. 3-21, attracted 1,378 students, Morse said.

The session offered more than 65 classroom courses, including a number of Web-based courses. Winterim, which has been a part of the academic calendar at UW-Eau Claire since 1996, originally offered only 13 courses.

"Winterim now provides a rich array of course offerings," said Morse. "With the number and variety of courses available, most students are finding courses that help them stay on track or get a step ahead on completing their degrees."

The Winterim course offerings allow current students to make the most of their winter breaks, Morse said.

"Winterim is a wonderful opportunity for students to accelerate degree completion, catch up on those few credits that are needed to achieve the next class level, or take a course that is in high demand during the fall and spring semesters," Morse said, adding that Winterim also offers opportunities for people not enrolled at the university to take a UW-Eau Claire course.
