Four UW-Eau Claire Communication and Journalism Students Receive Special Honors

EAU CLAIRE — Four students from the department of communication and journalism at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire were recently honored with special awards.
Jodi Braunhausen, a communication-public communication major from Mankato, Minn., and Carl Hagen, a mass communication-advertising major from Colfax, were recently honored with 2004-05 Outstanding Senior awards from the Office of Student Development and Diversity.
Students are nominated for these awards by the department of their majors. The criteria for selection includes a GPA of 3.5 or better; active participation in organizations related to department of their major; offices held in organizations related to department of their major; participation in research or other activities relating to their program of study; leadership roles displayed in activities related to department; and any other involvement which seems appropriate as a basis for recognition, including non-university activities.
Steven Davis, a mass communication-public relations major from West Allis, and Rebecca Hebbring, a mass communication-public relations major from Chippewa Falls, were awarded spring 2005 Wisconsin Broadcasters Association Foundation scholarships in the amount of $2,000. These competitive scholarships are offered each year for students interested in pursuing a career in broadcasting.
