Community Members Invited to Information
Sessions at UW-Eau Claire

RELEASED: Jan. 7, 2005

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire will be holding a Community Registration Night from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 24, in Schofield Hall for community members interested in taking classes as special students during the spring 2005 semester, which begins Jan. 26.

A list of open classes will be available, and while space in many courses is limited, university staff will be on hand to help community members select and enroll in a class that matches their interests, needs and abilities. Participants also may rent or buy textbooks, buy a parking permit and get a student ID.

Special students must complete a Special Student Application Form and Payment Plan Agreement and make a $100 deposit. Obtaining these forms in advance and returning them with the required deposit by Jan. 19 can help expedite registration. Call (715) 836-2425 or e-mail registration@uwec.edu to request a registration packet or download the form and agreement at www.uwec.edu/community.

Free parking will be available in all of the campus lots during the registration session.

Those unable to come to Community Registration Night may register in Schofield 128 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25, or from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26. Community members eligible to register as tuition-free auditors must wait to register until Jan. 26, the first day of classes.

Community members new to the university this spring or returning from an extended break in their educations also can benefit from attending a free Back-to-School Program from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, or from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20. University staff committed to working with adult students will give an overview of university programs and policies and describe campus services. This also is a good time to meet other returning students. Preregistration is required for this program — call (715) 836-3259.

For more information about either of these programs, call Debbie Gough or Bonnie Isaacson at (715) 836-3259, or check out the Web at www.uwec.edu/community.
