Musical Events for the Week of March 7

RELEASED: Feb. 28, 2005

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire music and theatre arts department will present the following musical performances the week beginning Monday, March 7. All events are free and open to the public.

Monday, March 7:

The flute studio of Timothy Lane, professor of music, will present a recital at 5 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. The performance will open with junior Ana Armstrong, De Pere, playing her own composition, "Korean Suite." Junior Nessa Severson, New Glarus, will follow with "Chanson de Matin" by Edward Elgar. The rest of the concert will feature performances by freshman Anne Bitney, Shell Lake; senior Jessica Moebius, Rice Lake; junior Amy McCoy, Rosendale; freshman Katie Salo, Woodbury, Minn.; sophomore Leann Campeau, Eau Claire; freshman Kira Zeman, Washburn; freshman Jennifer Ritchie, Sun Prairie; senior Breta Borstad, Cameron; sophomore Amelia Wicke, Sun Prairie; senior Jeanne Kolis, Eau Claire; and senior Laura Barth, Eau Claire. Senior Kara Sorensen, Duluth, Minn., will conclude the recital with "Night Soliloquy" by K. Kennan.

Tuesday, March 8:

Senior Kenyon Scheurman, River Falls, will present a trombone recital at 5 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. Scheurman will be assisted by seniors Joe Hartson, Oconomowoc, Colin Gilliland, Fond du Lac, and Josh Hertel, Denmark, on trombones and senior Andrei Strizek, Sun Prairie, on piano. The concert will open with a performance of Fantasy in c minor by G.P. Telemann. Other composers featured in the performance will be Johan de Meij, Malcolm Arnold and Ludwig van Beethoven. The concert will end with "Florana" by Gerald Finzi.
