EAU CLAIRE — University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Continuing Education and the UW-Eau Claire College of Nursing and Health Sciences, the Wisconsin Association of School Nurses, and the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction will present "School Nurses: Professionals Making a Critical Impact" at the Plaza Hotel & Suites in Eau Claire. The pre-conference program will be held from 3:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, followed by a welcome reception from 6:30-8:30 pm. The conference begins at 8 a.m. Thursday, April 21, and concludes at 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 22.
Keynote speakers are Susan Will, who will present "The Seven Habits of Highly Successful School Nurses," Deborah Tackmann, who will present "Health Education in the 21st Century: Are We Ready for the Challenge?" and Joan Fleming, nationally known speaker and author, who will present " School Nurses: Living with Abundance." Other conference topics include diabetes, asthma, tuberculosis, methamphetamines, student record handling, and Medicaid and Badgercare enrollment.
The conference fees are $65 for the pre-conference, $150 for a single day of the main conference (April 21 or 22), $265 WASN member full conference, $295 nonmember full conference, and $25 per day for students (no lunch included.). Participants will earn 3 contact hours for attending the pre-conference, 6.6 contact hours for attending April 21, and 4.8 contact hours for attending April 22.
