UW-Eau Claire to Offer March Supervisory Management Courses

EAU CLAIRE — University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Continuing Education/UW-Extension will present several workshops from the Supervisory Management Certificate program in March. The workshops, designed for managers, supervisors and small business owners, may be taken individually or as part of the certificate program requirements. The Supervisory Management Certificate program is co-sponsored by the Small Business Development Center, UW-Eau Claire, UW-La Crosse and UW-Extension.

  • "Supervisory Management 1" will be held March 17-18 in Eau Claire at Sweetwaters Restaurant. Topics include making a smooth transition from an operational to a decision-making role, selecting a leadership style, motivating employee performance, and discipline and work rules.
  • "Supervisory Management 2" will be held March 29-30 in La Crosse at the Cleary Alumni and Friends Center on the UW-La Crosse campus. Topics include establishing orientation policies and procedures, understanding communication behaviors, time management and delegating.
  • "Supervisory Management 3" will be held March 10-11 in Eau Claire at Sweetwaters Restaurant. Topics include working towards more effective coaching, establishing job expectations, critical skills in the coaching process, and practice conducting face-to-face coaching sessions.
  • "Improving Managerial Efficiency" will be held March 2-3 in Baldwin at the AmericInn. Topics include how to gain productive work time, techniques for paper handling, prioritizing and organizing work, project planning, accelerated learning, speed-reading, mind mapping and memory enhancement.
  • "Managing Projects and Project Teams" will be held March 15-16 in La Crosse at the Cleary Alumni and Friends Center on the UW-La Crosse campus. Topics include long-range project planning techniques, how to run efficient team meetings, systems for organizing multiple projects, generating project "buy in," solving unexpected problems, and strategies for handling crisis situations.

All workshops meet from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Individual course fees are $425 per person and include lunch, breaks, materials and instruction. Group fee is $375 per person for three to five people from the same firm attending the same session and registering at the same time. Series fee is $1,125 per individual registering for Supervisory Management 1, 2, and 3 at the same time.
