EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Earth Science Seminar Series has begun for spring semester 2005 and will be held at 3 p.m. on selected Fridays in Room P281 in Phillips Science Hall unless otherwise noted. Following is the schedule for upcoming seminars.
- Feb. 18 — Speaker: Harvey Thorliefson, Minnesota Geological Survey. "Indicator mineral methods in mineral exploration, and their application to the discovery of diamonds in Canada"
- March 4 — Speaker: Gordon Medaris, UW-Madison. "The Baraboo Interval and Proterozoic Evolution of the Lake Superior Region"
- March 11 — Speaker: Tom Hickson, University of St. Thomas. "Using a deformable swimming pool to understand alluvial stratigraphy: Jurassic Tank and LAB (Leeder, Allen, Bridge) Models"
- March 31 — Speakers: Jim Boulter and Paul Thomas, UW-Eau Claire. "The Atmosphere and Surface of Titan" (Note: Thursday, 4 p.m. in P224; cross listed with Physics Seminar Series)
- April 1 — Speaker: Kent Syverson, UW-Eau Claire. "Glacier Bay as a Modern Analogue for the Deglaciation of Maine"
- April 15 — Speaker: Matt Boyd, Lakehead University. Title: To be announced
- April 29 — Speaker: Tim Demko, University of Minnesota-Duluth. Title: TBA
- May 6 — Speaker: Chris Swezey, United States Geological Survey. Title: TBA
