Information Sessions Planned for
McNair Program at UW-Eau Claire

RELEASED: Feb. 14, 2005

EAU CLAIRE — Informational sessions for the McNair Program at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire will take place from 2 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22 and Monday, March 7, in the Alumni Room, Davies Center. All interested students, faculty and staff are invited to attend.

The Ronald E. McNair Postbaccalaureate Achievement Program is a federally funded TRIO program that helps eligible, academically talented, low-income, first-generation students and students from groups traditionally underrepresented in graduate programs to pursue a research-based doctorate.

Staff members will provide an overview of the McNair Program, including the benefits to students, eligibility requirements and application process. The nomination/application deadline for the McNair program is April 15.

Successful applicants embark upon two years of intensive mentoring, participate in four McNair Seminars, engage in collaborative research with UW-Eau Claire faculty members, and take part in the paid Summer Research Institute. Additionally, students enjoy the opportunity to publish and present their research findings and to receive assistance with graduate school preparation, selection and application.
