Tickets Go on Sale at UW-Eau Claire
for 'The Vagina Monologues'

RELEASED: Feb. 14, 2005

EAU CLAIRE — Tickets go on sale today — Valentine's Day, Monday, Feb. 14 — for three benefit performances of Eve Ensler's "The Vagina Monologues," which will be presented at 7:30 p.m. March 3 and 4 and at 2 p.m. March 5 in Schofield Auditorium, Schofield Hall, at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Making Our School an Intercultural Community, a UW-Eau Claire Housing and Residence Life diversity task force, is sponsoring the student production in conjunction with V-Day UW-Eau Claire 2005.

Each year MOSAIC holds events to celebrate V-Day, a global movement to stop violence against women and girls. The V-Day College Campaign invites members of college and university communities around the world to present benefit productions of "The Vagina Monologues" to raise money and awareness to help stop the violence. MOSAIC will donate the proceeds of its production to the Bolton Refuge House and the Women of Iraq.

"The Vagina Monologues" is a compilation of women's thoughts, feelings and experiences related to being a woman. The topics of the monologues range from coming of age to instances of sexual assault.

"It's a tastefully inspiring and incredible event," said Elizabeth Welle, one of the coordinators of the event. "Not only is it good for some laughs, but it's bound to bring a basketful of emotions to everyone in the crowd."

Admission is $7 for all students with an ID, $10 for UW-Eau Claire faculty and staff with ID, and $10 for the general public. Tickets are available at the University Service Center, (715) 836-3727.

For additional information, contact Welle at (715) 855-3711 or welleem@uwec.edu.
