Musical Events for the Week of Feb. 14

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire music and theatre arts department will present the following musical performances the week beginning Monday, Feb. 14. All events are free and open to the public.

Wednesday, Feb. 16:

Sophomores Jon Lanctin, Sartell, Minn., and Kyle Scheible, Eden Prairie, Minn., will perform a joint student trumpet recital at 5 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. Lanctin and Scheible will be assisted on the piano by senior Andrei Strizek, Sun Prairie, as they perform pieces by composers such as J. N. Hummel, A. Goedicke and Otto Ketting. Lanctin will open the recital with Concerto for Trumpet by G. H. Stozel. The recital will end with a performance of Robert Russell's Abstracts No. 2, a duet for two trumpets.

Sunday, Feb. 20:

Bradley Johnson, lecturer of music and theater arts, will perform a faculty recital at 2 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. Johnson will begin by performing "La Sonnerie de Sainte Genevieve du Mont de Paris" by Marin Marais on the baroque violin. Laura Handler, playing the baroque violoncello, and harpsichordist Nanette Lunde, professor emerita of music, also will be featured. The recital will conclude with Sonata in C Major, Op. 5 No. 3 for Violin and Basso Continuo by Corelli.
