TO: News/Assignment Editors

FROM: Judy Berthiaume, director, UW-Eau Claire News Bureau

DATE: Feb. 4, 2005

SUBJECT: Chancellor Mash Named UW System Executive Senior Vice President

Attached you will find a message sent this morning to all members of the UW-Eau Claire campus community from Chancellor Donald J. Mash announcing his decision to accept the newly created position of Executive Senior Vice President of the UW System.

Dr. Mash will continue to serve as Chancellor through February, and will begin his new job March 1 in Madison.

UW System President Kevin Reilly will recommend to the Board of Regents that Dr. Vicki Lord Larson, former UW-Eau Claire professor and administrator and retired UW-Oshkosh provost and vice chancellor, be named Interim Chancellor. She will be on campus in early March.

Chancellor Mash will be available to talk with the media at 10:30 a.m. TODAY in the Presidents Room of Davies Center.

In addition to the Chancellor's message, I also am attaching a copy of:
