Two UW-Eau Claire Forensics Students Receive Scholarships for Spring Semester

RELEASED: Dec. 20, 2005

EAU CLAIRE — Two University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire students were recently awarded Grace M. Walsh forensic scholarships for the spring 2006 semester.

Junior Elizabeth Schroeder, Le Center, Minn., and freshman Jahlieh Henderson, Platteville, will receive the scholarships, which recognize outstanding forensics students.

The scholarship is named for a former professor and director of forensics who coached 25 state oratory champions and six national champions before retiring in 1980. She also coached 11 Wisconsin forensics champions, and no other state team beat UW-Eau Claire while the team was under her supervision. She also was the co-founder of the speech department and served as its chair for some time.
