Story Idea
The president of a university in South Korea is on campus today to sign a partnership agreement with UW-Eau Claire.
As a result of the agreement, 20-25 elementary education students from Jeonju National University for Education will come to UW-Eau Claire to participate in its summer English as a Second Language program. UW-Eau Claire also has a partnership agreement with Daegu National University of Education in South Korea. Story Idea
The Singing Statesmen will perform a series of concerts during a 10-day trip to Brazil Dec. 26-Jan. 5.
During its tour of Rio de Janeiro, the ensemble will perform five scheduled concerts in the surrounding area. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the ensemble as one of the premier university male choruses in the United States of America. This will be the ensemble's fourth international tour since 1980. They have released seven recordings available to the public and plan to release their eighth, titled "A Testament," during the 2006 choral season. The Singing Statesmen are conducted by Gary Schwartzhoff, professor of music and director of choral activities at UW-Eau Claire. UW-Eau Claire's department of music and theatre arts and the UW-Eau Claire Foundation will continue its long-standing holiday tradition by offering the 31st Holiday Concert at 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. Dec. 11 in Zorn Arena. More than 400 students will perform during the event. The free concert will feature the Symphonic Choir and Symphony Orchestra, The Singing Statesmen, the Women's Concert Chorale, the Concert Choir and the Wind Symphony.
