SUBJECT: Message from the Chancellor

To all members of the UW-Eau Claire community,

Provost and Vice Chancellor Ron Satz has taken medical leave to undergo treatment for a recurrence of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. The leave is effective today.

Ron has informed me it is his intent to be gone from campus during treatment and to remain away until his doctors determine he can return to his duties full-time.

Therefore, effective immediately, I am naming Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Steve Tallant, as interim provost and vice chancellor. Steve served in this capacity for a period of time last year and I am confident he will again provide able leadership in this important role.

It is clear to me the leadership team at UW- Eau Claire is extremely capable. Together, and with your continued support, we are dedicated to doing what is best for the university.

I know you will join me in wishing Ron a complete recovery and also in keeping him and his family in your thoughts during this time.
