Bruce Wood Dance Company to Offer Free Master Class to Local Dancers

RELEASED: April 26, 2005

EAU CLAIRE — Members of the Bruce Wood Dance Company, in conjunction with their University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Artists Series performance, will offer a free master class from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, May 3, in Room 105 of the McPhee Physical Education Center on UW-Eau Claire's upper campus.

Local dance students and the general public are invited to participate or observe the class.

The young Texas-based company was established in 1996 as a showcase for the acclaimed choreography of artistic director Bruce Wood and since 2002 has enjoyed national touring recognition.

The company also will perform at 7:30 p.m. that evening at The State: Regional Arts Center. Tickets for that performance are $20 for reserved seating, $10 for general admission seating. Reserved tickets are available at the Service Center counter in the east lobby of Davies Center. General admission tickets will be sold at the door.

Limited seating is available for an intimate dinner ($20 per person) with the company members at 7:30 p.m., Monday, May 2, in the Dulany Inn of Davies Center. Advance tickets are required and can be purchased at the Service Center.

The Artists Series is supported in part by a grant from the Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from the State of Wisconsin. Wisconsin Public Radio and Community Television have contributed generous promotional support. Best Western Trail Lodge & Suites Eau Claire (715-838-9989) at 3340 Mondovi Road is the exclusive accommodations partner for the Artists Series.

Funded by the students of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, the Artists Series is administered by the Activities and Programs office.
