New Harp to Debut with UW-Eau Claire Symphony Orchestra

RELEASED: April 19, 2005

EAU CLAIRE — Friends of Music, a University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Foundation affiliate organization, has successfully completed its campaign to provide a new harp for the UW-Eau Claire department of music and theatre arts. The Lyon & Healy Concert Grand 85 Series harp will debut during the spring concert of the University Symphony Orchestra on April 24 at 2 p.m. in Gantner Concert Hall of the university's Haas Fine Arts Center.

Paula Smith, UW-Eau Claire harp instructor, will perform "The Brook" by Adolphe Hasselmans on the new harp. She also will join the symphony in performing "Petroushka" by Igor Stravinsky.

Tickets, available at the University Service Center, (715) 836-3727 or (800) 949-UWEC, are $5 for the general public; $4 for those 62 and older, children 17 and younger and faculty and staff with a university ID; and $1.50 for students with a university ID.
