EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Jazz Ensemble III will present a concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.
Jazz Ensemble III, directed by Jeffery Crowell, assistant professor of music, will begin with "Not Ethiopia," by Michael Brecker, the most recorded saxophonist in jazz. The ensemble will perform a version of the piece as arranged by Ed Calle. The program will continue with "Moanin'" by Charles Mingus; "African Skies," also by Brecker; Arturo Sandoval's "Rhythm of Our World"; and Billy Strayhorn's " Chelsea Bridge." Work by Tom Kubis, Thad Jones and Frank Mantooth also will be featured.
Tickets, available at the University Service Center, (715) 836-3727 or (800) 949-UWEC, are $4 for the general public; $3 for those 62 and older, children 17 and younger and faculty and staff with a university ID; and free for students with a university ID.
