University Band to Perform Spring Concert April 25

RELEASED: April 14, 2005

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire University Band will present its spring concert at 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 25, in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.

The University Band, under the direction of Randal Dickerson, associate professor of music, will open with "Visions of Flight" by Robert Sheldon, followed by Carmen Dragon's arrangement of Samuel Augustus Ward's "America the Beautiful." This arrangement has been described as the most dramatic setting of the well known hymn ever written and is widely preformed by wind ensembles nation wide.

The concert also will feature Robert Jager's "Third Suite," conducted by senior Andrei Strizek, Sun Prairie; Robert W. Smith's "Africa: Ceremony, Song, and Ritual"; and Alfred Reed's "Rejoicing."

Tickets, available at the University Service Center, (715) 836-3727 or (800) 949-UWEC, are $4 for the general public; $3 for those 62 and older and children 17 and younger; and free for faculty, staff and students with a university ID.
