Dossin to Perform Special Tour Recital
for Chippewa Valley Residents May 1

RELEASED: April 13, 2005

Alexandre DossinEAU CLAIRE — Dr. Alexandre Dossin, assistant professor of music at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, has embarked on a concert tour of solo piano recitals that will include stops in seven U.S. cities, including New York and Chicago, as well as a two-week tour of Japan in May and a CD recording in Toronto and performance in Brazil in August.

The tour, titled "Franz Liszt and Italy," includes only pieces composed by Liszt, all of which are related to Italy in some way. Dossin describes Liszt (1811-1886) as "one of the greatest composers of all time and certainly the best pianist that ever lived on this planet." One of Dossin's performances on this tour will be at the American Liszt Society Festival in Lincoln, Nebraska, where he will give a lecture/recital on the "Dante Sonata."

Dossin will return to the Chippewa Valley to perform "Franz Liszt and Italy" in a free concert for area residents at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, May 1, in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. He believes many will enjoy this unique program.

Fans of Dossin now have another opportunity to enjoy his artistry with the recent release of his second solo CD, "A Touch of Brazil," from Blue Griffin Recording. The entire CD is dedicated to the work of Edino Krieger, whom Dossin calls "the most important living Brazilian composer."

"This was a really emotional project for me," said Dossin. "Although I was born and raised in Brazil, I have not lived there since I was 18 years old, and this CD brought back many memories; it feels really Brazilian!"
