Library Display Features History of Viennese Ball

RELEASED: April 12, 2005

EAU CLAIRE — In celebration of the annual Viennese Ball (to be held April 15-16), the special collections department of McIntyre Library has put together a display on the history of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Viennese Ball.

Since 1974, more than 50,000 people have waltzed their way through Davies Center, raising money for music scholarships at UW-Eau Claire's Viennese Ball, an event documented as the largest Viennese Ball outside of Vienna. The exhibit includes historical documents from the university archives, including photographs, artifacts, brochures, videotapes and numerous books about Vienna, Viennese composers and music, ballroom dancing, Viennese food and etiquette.

The exhibit can be viewed in the McIntyre Library Grand Corridor through April 18, Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 1 a.m., Fridays 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturdays 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sundays 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Photos of the exhibit are posted on the library Web site at www.uwec.edu/Library/news/exhibits.htm.
