UW-Eau Claire to Offer Spring Supervisory Management Courses

EAU CLAIRE — University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Continuing Education/UW-Extension will present several workshops from the Supervisory Management Certificate program. The workshops, designed for managers, supervisors and small business owners, may be taken individually or as part of the certificate program requirements. The Supervisory Management Certificate program is co-sponsored by the Small Business Development Center, UW-Eau Claire, UW-La Crosse and UW-Extension.

  • "Supervisory Management 2" will be held May 19-20 in Baldwin at the AmericInn. Topics include establishing orientation policies and procedures, understanding communication behaviors, time management, and delegating and developing people.
  • "Supervisory Management 3" will be held May 3-4 in La Crosse at the Cleary Alumni and Friends Center on the UW-La Crosse campus and May 12-13 in Eau Claire at Sweetwaters Restaurant. Topics include working towards more effective coaching, establishing job expectations, critical skills in the coaching process and practice conducting face-to-face coaching sessions.
  • "Maximizing Performance" will be held April 27-28 in Baldwin at the AmericInn. Topics include creating an environment for excellence, identifying what you are really rewarding, fine-tuning coaching and goal-setting techniques, diagnosing performance problems, and turning around undesirable behaviors and rewarding desirable behaviors.
  • "Facing Conflict Head-On!" will be held May 5-6 in Eau Claire at Sweetwaters Restaurant. Topics include the conflict process, causes of organizational conflict and processes for diagnosing root causes of impasse.
  • "Managing Differences" will be held May 18-19 in Eau Claire at Sweetwaters Restaurant. Topics include adaptation to difference, approaches to managing different people, barriers to productivity, communication and work satisfaction, and techniques to help all employees thrive.
  • "Building High Performance Teams" will be held May 24-25 in La Crosse at the Cleary Alumni and Friends Center on the UW-La Crosse campus. Topics include tools and resources that promote strong purpose and team development, team-building, engaging all members, focusing on key results, and achieving production goals.
  • "Training Employees" will be held June 8-9 in Eau Claire at Sweetwaters Restaurant. Topics include setting up one-to-one job instruction training, mini-practice sessions, and immediate feedback which reinforces skills.

All workshops meet from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Individual course fees are $425 per person and include lunch, breaks, materials and instruction. Group fee is $375 per person for three to five people from the same firm attending the same session and registering at the same time. Series fee is $1,125 per individual registering for Supervisory Management 1, 2, and 3 at the same time.
